Ready for summer, suspension upgrade

Hello all,

Nice sunny sunday morning so I thought Id spruce up the Box and take a couple pics.

Also wanted to show the following upgrades/modes Ive done in the last month or so.
  • New front and rear to links
  • CC rear box/silencers
  • Lowering springs H&R 30mm
  • 20mm spacers front and back
  • chrome nuts
  • new instrument cluster (original died ) but now its silver dials
So a little money spent this year, and that will do me.

Cheers

Gorgeous!

Since you had your cluster out, do you know if the lcd portions are naturally monochrome with the amber color provided by a light or filter, or are the lcd's themselves amber?
I ask because the color does not suit me. I would be thrilled if they were monochrome(black and clear) so that I could change the backlight to blue. My guess is that the lcd is polarized to that particular wavelength of light, but I'm going to check anyway. A boy can dream...

It's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. I'm going to remove the cluster this week to find out for sure, if I can't tell by looking closely at the gauges.
Also, any hints on how to get the cluster out would be great!

Thanks! And again, beautiful 986!

The color of the LCD's in the instrument cluster can be changed by changing the bulb color. I already have mine changed to blue by using a set of blue LED's.

I couldn't wait, so I pulled the instrument cluster right after work. I can confirm that the lcd's ARE monochrome, clear and black! I used a flashlight with color filters to play with different color options.

Very cool! Going to radio shack ASAP for some leds. Sorry for highjacking your thread.

I wish I had seen that before my trip to the Shack. Oh well. I went a different route, anyway. I bought tri-color leds(red, green, blue), a small project board, and a micro switch set. This way, I'll have 4 color options; red, green, blue, and purple.
