Speed yellow is pretty awesome:

Though the Lapis Blue on my car is pretty sweet too:

You might also ask yourself, is silver a color? One thing is certain, it's boring!

I'm going to conclude the following:

Three best colours in no partic order -

Silver with Box Red leather. Not exactly exciting, but definitive and will be "classic" in years to come.
Speed yellow.
Guards red.

I think the 986 looks great in most colours. Only one I can't really tolerate is dark blue.

A recent survey showed that 9 out of 10 women preferred Speed Yellow over any other color !!

Biarritz White & Tan

Never was sold on a white car until a 2001 Biarritz White Boxster with a tan top and tan interior caught my eye on a car lot for sale. Wow what a color combination, I need that car I thought. Its been six months now and still stare every chance I get, ya you all know what I'm talking about.

I think the entire range of colours is interesting (although I am not a big fan of 'plumb crazy'). Speed yellow and red scream for attention a little too much for my taste (and ok, my age), but do look great. Silver hides dirt and is, of course, the original german racing colour; sadly, the common red interior tends to fade heavily and the carpeting has a tendancy to turn pink.

Like Gikser, mine is a nice, conservative, Ocean Blue metallic with metropol blue top and beige interior. The Ocean Blue metallic has terrific depth - it appears virtually black in low light, but in direct sunlight shows tremendous amounts of metallic and some subtle undertones. And the beige interior adds some nice contrast to the black plastic bits and stays much cooler in the sun. Anyway, it works for me.

One advantage to the darker colours is that one can eliminate 'road rash' much more effectively with Dr. Color Chip (as I recall, that's the name of this terrifc product) than on lighter colours. The best color? Really, no such thing. Most of us bought our cars used and, if you were like me, the color combination was secondary to the condition (and correlative maintenance records). I guess the real test is, what color would you order in a new Boxster? I would definitely stick with a beige interior, but would probably opt for either a black or white exterior.

Triple Black

If I was ordering from the factory (which I really want to do one day. They have a great program for it), Triple Black all the way.

Love the history/tradition of Speed Yellow. My parents had a '74 911 with black interior.....GEORGOUS. The only car I would ever consider getting in yellow is a Porsche. But I don't think it is really me.

My second choice, happily, is the one I am getting in a couple weeks.

Seal Gray!

I love mine in black, but I also really like dark grey. I think even the ugliest color imaginable would look good on a porsche.

Just my opinion but, you think Ferrari ? You think red. You think Porsche ? You think silver.

Guards Red was always my first choice hands down UNTIL I found my 2000 s Basalt Metalic Black with Boxster Red interior. Maybe a bit hard to keep dust free but on man! What a joy when detailing is done!

So, I vote Triple Black or Metalic Black.

I know...I really thought about that before I posted, but I gotta be honest. I am SURE silver/gray is the most popular color, but something about the yellow blur just screams Porsche.

Of course my love of all things Porsche started with a 1974 911 Targa in......Speed Yellow

I hate to sound like a broken record, but we all well know that Glacier White wins, hands down. I mean, c'mon. Get real...

I read that dealers tend to order only cars in colors they know will sell --- hence all the black, white and silver / gray cars out there. Mine is black and it looks like a million bucks when it's freshly detailed. It was the best condition / lowest mile car i could find when shopping. If i had to choose ...I would go with the Viola / Purple.
