60K tune-up. What do they do and how much ??!?

So my 2001 986 just hit 60K and I was wondering what the dealer does for the 60,000 maintenance check. Also how much should I expect to spend. Also is it normal for an oil change to cost $275.00 at the dealer ? Thanks !!

I would call your dealer and have them tell you..but generally sounds like it includes all filters being replaced, the serpentine belt replaced, oil of course and I think other items.. I think generally around $800 or so I forget as I had gotten estimates but got a lower mileage car in the end...

I have heard regular oil change can be the price you mention at a dealer ...

That's about right for a dealer oil & filter change.

You might try a local quickie change shop - if you pull in with a Porsche, bring the specific oil and filter, and take a lot of interest in every step of the process, they will do a good job and save you $175.

Check out ppbon's response in: http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/23869-60-000-mile-service.html

It's for a 2003, but should be very similar for an '01.

Looks like a lot, but a lot is just visual inspection and checking fluid levels.

Find a good indie shop for all of this. A lot of ppl on here do their own oil change.
Oil changes on these cars tend to cost more than other cars not because its a Porsche but because it takes a lot of oil lol. But you can definitely get it done for way under $200

This is a lot of great info. I only drive about 2/3K miles a year on it and want to keep the car in great condition.

Dealer cost is just outrageous. you can DIY all the things on the checklist for about $250-300. Oil change, plugs, filters, all very easy. You could probably find ans indy to do it in the $750 range.

If it were my car, at 60k and 11 years I would also change the gear oil, flush the brake fluid and flush the cooling system .

It costs $950 to have done at the dealership;

$50 for twenty minutes worth of visual inspections

$100 to change out the oil and...

$800 to turn off the "service engine now" message on your dash display
