Cleaning a rusty tailpipe
That sounds kind of funny. The tail pipe on the car is a little rusty. Is there anything that will take the rust off and polish it so it looks new and shiny
thanks |
I've used a product called "Flitz'... It's a great metal polish, and is completely non-abrasive... link here; http://www.flitz-polish.com/?source=gg&camp=flitz&grp=name&term=flitz

I had great luck with Flitz too. Used it with a "Dremel" like tool with a cloth polishing pad, came out looking like chrome.

I just ordered some thanks. So do I have to use something like dremel or can I use a towel?
|
Sure, you can use a cloth. Dremel just = less time, less sore hands. :D

For a polished ALuminum tip I would use Blue Magic, or Meguiars NXT Metal Polisher (more aggressive).
Chrome Tip I always used Eagle One Wire and rim cleaner to get the burned yellowing look out. Be sure to use on a COLD tailpipe, and use some elbow grease. |
You also can try "Barkeeper's (or Bartender's) Helper". It is a mild abrasive. It cleaned up my car's muffler and tailpipe, even removed baked on oil. Nice shiny finish. I'd advise to use rubber gloves as it contains oxalic acid. I bought a can at the local supermarket. You can use cold water and a wash cloth. A power tool is not required.
