Remote key locks not working

I have a 2000 Boxster and replaced the battery in my key because my range was getting really bad on it (had to be next to the car). I had some trouble getting it back together and now it isn't working at all. Tried putting old battery back in as well. I even tried taking out the inside part that has the remote and holds the battery and pressing it without being inside of the key but it's not making the light go off. It seems like everything is still intact in there... Any idea something I could have messed up or lost inside of the key? It seems like it doesnt have anything to touch the negative side of the battery, but I didn't notice anything on it before. If I can't fix it any idea if the iside part can be ordered separately from the entire key?

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

I read in a previos post that sometimes if you take to long to change the battery or something,it will loose its programming and you need to take it to porsche to have it reprogrammed. That is what is sounds like to me.

****************, I never heard that... But it isn't even giving a light or anything. Still sound like that? Any idea what they charge for a reprogram if it is that?

Yes,that is strange that the light isn't on.I have an extra key that the light comes on but just doesn't work.I think someone said around $75.00 to reprogram.Hopefully someone else will make a post that knows something more.
