I'm using an OTC wheel cleaner sold by Armor All at Autozone. With a Meguair's Gold Class wheel face brush it makes quick work of anything regular car wash soap doesn't get out. |

Wax.....Mothers...California Gold. |
Everyone has their favorite wax. I've tried too many to count.
But my "go-to" from a cost and performance standpoint is 3M Perfect-It Show Car Paste Wax. $18 a can and gives as close to a wet look as I could find and it goes on/off incredibly easy. It's the best I've found in combining a Carnuba-look gloss with the durability of a polymer-based product. 3M Perfect It Show Car Paste Wax, 3m 39526, creates an ultra high gloss finish, with long-lasting protection! |
Found the time to do a detail last week. Didn't quite have the energy to break out the PC to polish, but did wash, clay, then applied two coats. The finish on these guys really cleans up nicely. The results---not bad for an 11 year old car:
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...IMG_989750.jpg http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...IMG_989550.jpg I can't believe it, but I got the random orbital like 5 years ago (not all that long after I got the Box) and haven't used it on this car yet. (Have used it on another.) Just didn't see the need---was seeing no swirls. Well, this year, if I looked really close in just the right light I could see a few. So...guess I'll have to give it a try (NEXT year :D). What I used. (The pink stuff? FinishKare 425.) http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...3Web-large.jpg |
JD - quick muckin around and go forth the land of the internet and onto the zaino site and get the good sh...t ! you'll thank me later..

p.s. I like how you laid out the products in order of use. Keepin' it simple. |
Thanks for the comments. I left out one thing...the quick detail bottle, used with the clay bar.
The downside to detailing? It sure don't last... http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...5Web-large.jpg Spring's tough: you got all that pollen in the air, and dust and intermittent showers, a regular PITA. For all you anal retentives out there, relax---I gave her a bath right after taking that photo. :) |
You guys are maniacs but your cars look great!
