For one thing, the CDR-220 has AUX input, and the CDR-23 does not.

CDR-23: http://content3.eu.porsche.com/prod/911/targa.nsf/gbrenglish/comfortaudio_system

P.S. In case you have an iPod, you want the 220. http://home.comcast.net/~kilsen/boxster_ipod.htm

The new Boxster comes with a CDR-24, and like the CDR-23, I think we're SOL for an iPod except through FM transmission or an elaborate hack. Anyone know otherwise?

A CDR23 is a fiber optic based head unit that works in Boxsters with MOST technology. It will not work in older boxsters. I know this from personal stupidity by buying one and finding out I didn't have the MOST technology required to use it. It requires no security code because it must be programmed to the car's other MOST components.

The CDR220 will work in 97-01 (possibly other years) Boxsters as a replacement for the crappy CDR210.

I replaced my 210 with a new, state of the art Alpine unit that was $200 cheaper than a used CDR220 and had it wired into my factory four channel amp. Sounds phenominal and is far better than any Becker unit.

...and yes, it has IPod inputs and even controls the ipod from the remote control that came with it (not like I'll ever use that stupid remote as I'm inches away from the head unit).

I have the 4253 if I'm not mistaken. Paid $235 for it on Ebay. Unit retails for $399... hopefully this will help you figure out which one works best for you!

Difference between the two is one of the models has a 3 and the other has a 2and a 0 in the nomenclature. Thank you folks, you can pick up my comedy cd on your way out!
