Still not sold on anything yet guys. Come on, there must be something out there. I'm talking like bargain cheap mods, that give back a lot. Ebay decals and stuff, etc.. come on now lol

De-Snorkle... You will love the sound and gain 5 hp without spending a dime. See first post on this thread:

If you are looking to put something cheap on your car, it might come out cheap. As a matter of fact, some decals would actually look counterproductive. If you are thinking about ebay decals they are actually rather expensive and do nothing for performance.

If you are interested perhaps this might help: (not affiliated)

Porsche Stripes | Porsche Graphics | Porsche Decals | Porsche Vinyl | Porsche Stickers

No i'm saying people are buying decals for their steering wheel and stuff for mods. That's not what I'm looking for. I'd never do decals on the car. Too tacky!!!

I am confused  If you are thinking about performance gains there are limited options. An underdrive pulley/different exhaust system/ technotorque would provide some power, but marginal at the best. It would be more feasible to perhaps do weight reduction or put in a larger engine or add super/turbo charger

First mods I had done were painted bumperettes and clear sidemarkers. I would recommend both of these unless your car is black. Then bumperettes not worth it. Bumperplugs.com is a PCA advertiser here in Charlotte that I bought them through . He does the bumperettes on an exchange program. He'll provide you a new set color matched with yours and you exchange yours for them. Total mod costs aroung $300 easy to DIY. Gives car a more 987 look from behind.

I think the short throw shifter was one of the best mods I made. I went with a Schnell which was about $160. It's lasted 7 years so far and no problems. It came with very good step by step installation instructions.

I'd be nervous of an inexpensive no-name shifter. Who knows how long it will last, and once it fails, you're going to be stuck on the road somewhere waiting for a tow.

Tires and desnorkle by far IMO. Both are easy and you can actually tell the difference (for the snorkle its more about the audio than just 5hp).

I can see your concerns with such a low priced short shifter. All in all though, I think they are all made out aluminum/steel so I am not too worried. It would be hilarious though to be driving and the stick shift to suddenly to fall out out of the boot.

Ferry Porsche once had a custom made, one of a kind, 2.7 Carrera made for his birthday. What was on the doors? PORSCHE decals.

I actually bought a buffer from AutoZone, came with a yellow pad. I need to go buy some Mquires Swirl Remover compound. The buffer came with two yellow pads. The first time, after a nice wash, I just waxed the car. It took care of some of the thinner swirls, but still in direct sunlight, there are lots of swirls. So I think I need to treat the swirls first, then shine her up.

you need an orbital buffer that will produce enough torque to de-swirl.
I rarely see these at autostores. Try autogeek.net

Kianfar 04-06-2012 04:21 PM

^^^ I think Mequires has a by hand Swirl Remover product, but I'll be using my buffer to complement it. Might need to do couple of passes, but hopefully it should do the job.

We clearly have different definitions of mod. It looks good, I was thinking about getting one of those but I prefer to have my key as uncluttered as possible.
