It was only 85 degrees down there? I think White Sands would definately make a nice backdrop for photos.

It's time to tell you about binoculars as the best cop prevention tool invented. Ask the wife to use them while you're testing the car's top end speeds and she'll be able to peg a cop 5x further away.
Now if she gets motion sickness, it's not my fault. I don't recommend driver's using binoculars, by the way
Now get back out there and push that car well above 125 so you can say you did it!

IMHO if you're gonna push it pretty high, do it on the track. They'll yank your license in a heartbeat if you're caught in the 120 range no matter what the speed limit (max I've seen is 70mph).
Isn't it nice, though, that Porsche doesn't limit the cruise to 85 like many American manufacturers?

Delirious: How fast does the cruise set? It was great to set it and forget it...just like Ron Popeil. I hope that joke isn't lost.
Randall: My wife throws up easily so binos probably are not going to work. However, maybe I could borrow some Night Vision Goggles from work?
Jeph: The photos turned out ok. It is so white and devoid of texture and contrast that it is hard to capture the beauty. 85 deg...can you believe it? It is monsoon season here so the temps are much lower. Coming back at 10pm it was 65 deg. Windows up, seat heaters on and all was right with the world.

I wasn't suggesting doing it foolishly. When I drive fast (100+) I always have a friend down at the other end of the road watching for cops and oncoming cars. It's also done on a very lonely road with no traffic, pedestrians, etc. If my buddy calls my cell phone, I shut it down quickly, then answer the call to find out why he's calling.
Tracking one's new Boxster voids the warranty instantly, although you are right, it's a far safer place to drive fast unless there are idiots who are flagging people to run another lap when someone is coming off the track (i.e., the P-GT driver who died this summer in CA). Even on track days it's dangerous.

pampered your engine ? why?
I thought everyone knew of the only break in procedure to actually work.. www.mototuneusa.com . Get the engine FULLY warmed up, drive it hard and fast, under load of course, change the oil at 20, then 200, then 2000. then Enjoy!

The owners manual says keep it below 4,200 rpm for the first 2k miles. I follow the book. The engineers who came up with that were a whole lot smarter than I am.
