Choose a Door-Entry guard

Do you have?

I would like to install door entry guard, There are two kinds: stainless steel or carbon. Help me to choose.

Pics would be welcome.

Boxster, Artic Silver. Interior: Nephrite Green, Black floor mats.

Happy polling!

So far, I'm not planning to get a door sill, so I voted none.

I wouldn't get carbon unless I had other carbon trim.

As for stainless, I understand it scratches easily and might not look good for long. For those who have stainless sills, what is your experience?

Here a pic!

I bought some from a guy on eBay that manufactures them. Excellent fit and finish. He makes them with the Boxster logo or just the Porsche crest. I put the crest ones on mine. Here's a pic from his auction. I have them on a Guards Red one and I get compliments everytime anyone sees them.

I would like to buy OEM product...

Mine came with OEM Carbon Fiber Boxster sills... I couldn't imagine not having them. They match the Carbon Fiber/leather 3 prong steering wheel as well.

I am going to buy soon, more opinions..?

HI,

I bought my Carbon ones AfterMarket from a Guy who makes them up. They have the Boxster script inlaid. They are not the Full, Wrap-around type like OEM, but I prefer these in fact, and if you notice do mirror the length and width of the Interior Door Sill Trim - looks Balanced. They still serve to function very well as Scuff Protectors.

My DigiCam at the time was the ********************, so it doesn't do the best job of showing detail, and the 'Grain' is about 500% more pronounced than in person due to the Flash, but here they are anyway...

Door Entry Guard

I have a 1997 with the Stainless entry guards. They do scratch a bit, but easy to polish with P21S Multi Finish Restorer Polish. They look great and help preserve the car.

carbon all the way!!!

Perfectlap 01-18-2006 05:35 PM

avoid anything reflective. It requires upkeep to keep clean and remove scratches.
Go with the Carbon fiber and cover with some 3M vinly in a 80 mil thick grade like the kind I have on my headlights.

and post more pics of your green interior!

After seeing MNBoxster's sills, I have to go with carbon. Those are tight!

Jim do you have any more details on where you purchased those.? I like the smaller size, they really do compliment the interior door sill trim.

Hi,

It'll take a day or so to dig out the receipt... I'll PM you with it, unless someone else is interested. I'm positive they were under $100, less than $90 I think. I've received several compliments on them - as I said, they look much better in person...

Could you pm me the link or the ebay sellers name? I love the look of those!

Stainless Steel

I bought the original ones for a stupid amount of money, but they do look great. Just makes the entry to the vehicle look a lot cleaner. How are they supposed to scratch? You might get a scuff mark from a shoe but that's about it. I've had mine for over 2 years and barely a mark on them.

valcax 02-20-2006 12:29 PM

At last poll won stainless steel and this same was my decision.
Here the results!! :)
