Cayman pricing
I'm not in the market, but wondered what you guys thought of this car and its price:
My next Pcar will be a motor-swapped Cayman S or a 911 S... |
Salvage title, get back to the Jupiter II Will Robinson, danger! it does look nice though.
|
Run, do not walk to the nearest exit.
|
Its nice but the price is too steep for a salvage car
and it has a lot of modding done to it...anything goes wrong and its on your own...most shops wont want to touch it (let alone dealership) and its worth mooch when one tries to resell it |
Nice everything (including the price), except for the salvage title... it's sad...

Nice looking car.
Come on Randall, $27K for a little bit of heaven? I mean, the guy did say it was "minor" damage..:D |
I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand due to salvage title.
If you are only planning to hold onto it briefly, then probably steer clear due to resale difficulties. If it's a long-term keeper, that's different. Depending on the damage and the repair, you can sometimes get a lot of car for the money. My only issue is the silly 997RS front end. |
you can get a stock relatively low mileage CLEAN title Cayman for 27k around here
|
27k seems quite steep to me for a salvage title. That car's only worth $18k to me considering I can't sell it for anywhere near that when I'm tired of it. Just wondered what you guys thought.

Track Rat! Buy it, strip it and cage it. All the tuners will snap up that bling on ebay for a fair price. Meanwhile you will be winging around TMS at 150 mph with your hair on fire. :)

Pothole, as written by the seller:
This is a Salvage Title Vehicle, we make every effort to describe vehicles as accurately as possible, just please remember you are buying a used vehicle As a famous chocolate maker once suggested...... "open wide for chunky" PS Can you imagine the re-resale value? This time around with my car I'm not changing one thing from stock, not one nut, not one air filter. |
Well, like I said, I don't like the 997 front end. And I have no idea as to values stateside. Just saying if I was buying a keeper, I wouldn't rule out a salvage.
|
The price that it's at is max $$$ for a salvage 06 CS with that kind of mileage. Not sure their mods add that much to the price. You might be able to find 07 base Caymans for that price, but 06 CSs are going for $31K+.
As others have said, if you planned to keep it, a salvage car for the proper price is worth considering. But it also would need to pass a thorough inspection. You'd think LAD would put out a respectable product, but who knows? Pics of the 'before' would be a requirement. |
I would want to see pictures of the damage first before I would consider buying.;)
|
Salvage car from a dismantler? Really?
Might just as well go to the top of a building and throw your cash out the window. :D Think about what someone else is going to think when you try to sell it? |
