More 19 inch rim help for my 06 Boxster
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum. I just purchased a lapis blue 06 Boxster. The first mod I would like to do is slap on some 19 inch rims. I have an opportunity to get a set of iss forged complex wheels in gun metal grey. I have searched this forum and others. My question is what width should I go with for the rears? My choices from searches and rim manufacturers are 19x10 with either a 42mm or 36mm offset. I can possibly get a 19x10.5 with a 43mm offset similar to the wheel dynamics rpk-038. As for the tires I will go with 265 35 19 with the 10" and 275 35 19 with the 10.5". For the fronts the options are 19x8.5 55mm offset, 19x8.5 53mm offset, or 19x8.5 45mm offset. Tires will be 235 35 19. I would like to choose the right width and offset to have the tires as flush to the fender as possible. I do not want to use a spacer and haven't thought of lowering the car as yet. I would love some advice to this so I can email my friend to get the rims started. Thanks in advance. |
Even if you don't end up buying from them you can get some great information, ideas and pics of the cars with the wheels on them at www.wheelenhancement.com

Based on your information, I would recommend the following fitment :
Fronts: 19 X 8.5 +45mm offset Rears : 19 X 10 +36 or +42mm offset (it depends on how aggressive you want the fitment to be) Tires: 235 up front and 275 on the rear * A 10.5 inch wheel will fit on 987 platform vehicles, however, it's not necessary to go so wide . |
Thanks Johnny Danger for the information.
What do you mean about aggressive fitment? I would like to go as flush to the fender as possible without rubbing. I know that you think that 10.5 is too wide. With your expertise, would it be possible to let me know what the best offset is? Can you also let me know what the offset would be for an 11" wide rim? Thanks so much for helping out a newbie :) |

13 mm's more of inner clearance . This can be crucial if you ever decide to lower your vehicle with adjustable coil overs. As far as an 11 inch wide wheel is concerned, again without being able establish a baseline of information, it would be difficult for me to make a recommendation . |
Hi,
The oem 17' rears are 17"x8" with a 40mm offset. Thanks |

Just FYI,
I wouldn't recommend any more than a 10.5" rear set-up as an 11" will either rub on the inside in order to clear or will stick-out around 1/2". Here are two 986 Porsche cars each using the same RPK-038 Wheels using the same 19x8.5 (45) & 19x10.5 (43), Tires: 235/3519 & 275/30/19.... http://wheeldynamics.com/rpk-038/rpk...ue_boxster.jpg http://wheeldynamics.com/rpk-038/por..._air-plane.jpg |
