Ignition switch and clutch problems linked?
Hi guys,
Newbie here. For around a month or so, I've had a problem with my ignition switch. When I take the key out, the ignition switch doesn't "click" like it knows the key has been removed. I have to tap the metal area where the key slot is until it does click. Only then do things like the remote locking / alarm work. Also, when I turn the car on, I have to turn the key back by about 10 degrees for things like the heater to work. Anyway...a new problem has started occurring...the clutch seems to disengage when I start doing high revs. The engine revs up, but seems to stop transferring power to the wheels. If I take my foot off the gas, the revs come down, and I can feel the car jump as the clutch re-engages. Could these two problems be linked? I know I really need to get the ignition switched changed - just haven't had a chance yet! Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Ignition switches are a common failure point with the Boxster, looks like yours needs to be replaced. The parts are not expensive.
I think you need to replace your clutch. A test you can perform is trying to start-out in third gear from a dead stop, what happens? |
