Dropped plastic piece into oil fill hole.
While removing the ribber middle oil filler tube, i broke the tip of the tube that connects to the engine. I saw one piece fall on the engine and thought the other out as well but it was inside the tube. So, when i tried to remove the engine side it dropped into the engine. Tried a shop vac, long wire with gummy tape and no luck. Oil is currently drained and the sump plate is off. How do I go about locating it and removing it? It's a one inch by 1/2 inch triangular piece. :(

If I understand you clearly, you were not fishing for the piece because you could see it but fishing blind hoping for a lucky break, if that is the case maybe you can try the following. Just an idea, since the sump plate is off, try flooding the intake with a small amount of clean oil and observe, you're going to need a big catch and some luck.

I will give that a try. I thinking maybe get one of those drain cams and see where it's at. But, I'll give the oil thing a try.

Didn't try the oil fill trick yet as the sump plate is out and the so are many other parts. Did get the tool with the camera at the end of a hose that is used for drains. Can't seem to find it. When removing the clutch I turned the engine so might have gotten stuck somewhere. Looking from the bottom I think it should have fallen or will fall into sump if it didn't get chewed up.
Should I remove the spark plugs and turn the engine (easily) until it falls? Any ideas guys? I definitely don't want to leave it in there even tho it's plastic. :( |
Bumping for some attention!!
Can't imagine noone else has dropped anything in the engine ever! |
Sweet success!!
Can see it sticking it's ugly sharp head out of the round hole. Forced air from shop vac did the trick. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1332372361.jpg |

When wrenching "there is no substitute" for patience and relentless persistence, good job. Case looks like a convict under hack has been on it with a toothbrush and polish.

That's why I hate plastic.....:troll:

That's what makes it all so fun, nice one Bala!!

this is the point when you feel you love your car more then anything in the world, and forget that just yesterday you was thinking about buying a case of dynamite. :D

Guys,
you all can probably imagine my state of mind. I was so happy when i saw the plastic piece stick out of the hole. This car is a love hate relationship. Just when you think you want to part it out it crawls back under your skin again! :D |
