New pair of GT3 replica seats for $600
Guys,
I just found a seller who has brand new GT3 replica seats on eBay for $600 + $100 shipping (yes for a pair of seats). Listing # 290672940904 I couldn't withhold myself and just ordered one set. I am not the seller, of in any way affiliated, just thought I'd share ... |
i have also been looking at those . i was afraid to bite on them .let me know how they work out.
|
I just took a car in that had those in it.
they are ok....... I guess, I wouldn't pay 600$ for them that is for sure. I do not fit in them like GT3's. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1329852357.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1329852373.jpg |
hi Chris, please update us as soon as you have them installed.
pics will be appreciated as always. thanks. |
Sheesh, the seats are $749 now.
|
Make an offer .. they might bite.
|
Anxious to see how these worked out. Any install issues? Good price compared to the company I've seen selling these.

Quick update to y'all
So one seat arrived last week as the did a shipping mistake seller was very apologetic and the 2nd seat should arrive on Wed The seats look like the real deal - no carbon fiber though they are made of fiberglass I was hoping to reuse some side mounts from my current seat (Momo) but they wouldn't fit (big surprise ;-) so now I am waiting for the Brey Krause mounts and then I'll see if there are any install issues |
Thanks for the update!
|
any updates or pics on these seats ?
|
still waiting for the B-K mounts
I'll post some pics after they are in the car Otherwise the seats just look exactly like the pics in the eBay posting, so there's really no need for me to take new pictures |

The 924S pictured below was formally mine, and install was a breeze. With ROTech seat brackets. |
Quick update:
After a wait time that seemed to take forever, the BK side mounts finally arrived. And guess what: The holes in the seats don't match the holes in the side mounts :-( and I am sure it's not Brey-Krause who screwed up here ;-) So, another story of "you get what you pay for" I am now in the process of making the seats fit, but unless you enjoy drilling holes into new race seats you might rather pass on this opportunity So I guess I took one for the team .... |

So here comes my final post bout this topic:
After adapting the seats to the side mounts and some improvising, the seats are finally in the car. And I am actually quite happy: the seats look good and are reasonably comfortable. So in hindsight: no regrets and I paid $600 for the cheapest knock off GT3 seats around |
Any pics of the final product installed?

|
I'd be interested if they came in cocoa brown
|
Good luck getting them in cocoa . Rotec quoted me 1800 plus 200 shipping for boxster red synthetic .

They look nice! Question: how light are they? How much weight did u lose compared to stock seats?

The stock seats are incredibly heavy, so it's a major weight saving |

... and now they are HEATED aftermarket GT3 seats :-)
update on my own post:
As much as I like the seats, in the current cold climate here I missed the comfort of my heated stock seats. So I started looking and found on eBay an aftermarket kit for heated seats. It's basically four thin fabric sheets with the heating elements inside, two switches and lots of wire. So now how to install them? I got lucky as the leather seat cushions of my GT3 seats all have a velcro flap on the side where they open and then you find some dense foam inside. So basically it was very easy: Open flap, take foam out, put the heating elements on top of the foam pad, stuff it carefully back inside, close flap. For the electric wiring: Initially I wanted to use my OEM switches for the seat heaters for a complete OEM look, but soon figured out that this is not straight forward at all. So I went with the supplied switches and decided to install them in the batwing. I found a used batwing (I wanted to keep my original intact), drilled the holes for the switches, got the power from the phone connector in the center console. The switches in the batwing almost look stock. Overall maybe 2 hours of work and it works great :D http://www.babblers.org/forums/attac...9&d=1333248591 |
Wow! You're very creative dude! Great job! If you lived close by, I'd have request your services to do the same thing.

The only thing that I can conclude is that there is no "standard" hole pattern so everyone does it a bit differently. |
