Dealer locked my radio when they replaced my battery

Hey guys so I picked up my 2001 boxster about 75 minutes ago and while the sales staff were great they replaced the battery for me but then entered the wrong code and locked me out of my stereo I've waited the required hour but nothing happens when I try to turn it on to enter the right code, any ideas or tricks to get this working ?

Many thanks and i'll be posting some pictures in a bit.

Did you wait an hour with the car off? Cause when I got locked out I found out that its an hour while the car is running.

I just finished waiting an hour with the car off ya, this totally sucks. so does the engine have to be running or what?

If the wrong code has been entered too many times then you need to have the ignition and radio on for an hour before you can try again.

Tool Pants is correct. This is an anti-theft feature. Take a long drive and then enter the radio code. You only get three tries to get it right.

Good luck!

kool thanks guys, I'm heading off on vacation for a week but when I get back I'll take it for a long drive and then reset the code. My drive home was like 55 minutes if only I had hit another red light :)

Yeah, I just took the car on a ride for an hour and I was ableto put the code in again. Just take a long quiet ride.

Ignition and radio on = car must be in ACC mode. It' doesn't have to have a running engine, right?

If so, this means you could leave it in ACC mode, turn off the A/C and anything else that might drain the battery except for the radio, and go watch the speed channel for an hour.

Driving around for a solid hour with no tunes can be torture for some drivers.

Randall is correct as usual!

Oh hell, don't write crap like that. :barf:

I'm wrong all the time, and I've been corrected a bunch of times for being totally wrong on this list! Believe it or not, I'm trying hard not to chime in on every thread as an expert... I sure have dropped a bunch of time and cash into my car though and every single lesson has been learned through the school of hard knocks!

If a man is all alone in the forest (withouth his wife) and he states his opinion, is he still wrong? :)
