If you can have any 5 cars that is not a Porsche, what would it be?

What do you mean again, you got eyes?

Ghostrider 310 02-10-2012 11:41 AM

haha eat it!! maybe not any but many and certainly the 458

Until the early 1980s, Ferrari followed a three-number naming scheme based on engine displacement:
V6 and V8 models used the total displacement (in decilitres) for the first two digits and the number of cylinders as the third. Thus, the 206 was a 2.0 L V6 powered vehicle, while the 348 used a 3.4 L V8, although, for the F355, the last digit refers to 5 valves per cylinder. Upon introduction of the 360 Modena, the digits for V8 models (which now carried a name as well as a number) refer only to total engine displacement. The numerical indication aspect of this name has carried on to the current V8 model, the F430. The F430's replacement, however, is the 458 Italia, which uses the same naming as the 206 and 348.

Seriously, if things go as planned, my dream car for the near future is a 360 Challenge Stradale or a 430 Scuderia . Although, I would like to include a Mercury Zephyr in my plans as well .

The question was "any 5 cars". Most of the lists I see have museum pieces - to be dusted and polished, not driven.

Chevy pickup, 8' bed, 4wd (you always have to haul of pick up something)
Mini Cooper, Cooper S (around the town go cart)
Corvette, 2012 GS Conv (because I'll need a rag top)
Lamborghini Gallardo (girlfriend likes these)
Lexus LS sport (big car for road trips)

Ghostrider 310 02-11-2012 03:42 AM

Those are still good choices, if you maintain antiques you can drive them. Leno drives a lot of his and I have a 41 year old car that I had to use after my 30K 98 Boxster blew up. Its also true the thread just said favorite cars and the ones he chose are cool.

Leno has more money than most 3rd world countries. But, yes he does drive what he has.
I view a "car" as something that is used to go to work, the grocery store, McDonalds and the golf course. I stand by my statement that many of the vehicles people have listed are museum pieces, pretty to look at and would only be driven on or off a car carrier, on a Sunday with no weather in sight.

jacabean 02-11-2012 05:04 AM

458 italia
lambo gallardo
vette zr1
audi r8 v10
skyline gtr

if i could choose any p car it would be the gt2 rs

jsceash 02-11-2012 05:29 AM

Is it cheating to say
RUF CTR3
RUF R12 S
Zonda Cinque
ZR1 vette
70 Z28 Camero Red with white striping and air induction hood

Cayman RS voted one of the thirteen cars police dread

Interesting choices everyone. Most of you have an Italian Super car on the list.

Lets keep this rolling.

Chris B 02-11-2012 03:03 PM

I could give you a different list every time I'm asked the question! But as of today, here's the top 5:

1963 Ferrari 250 SWB
1967 Lamborghini Miura
1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda
2005 Ford GT
2011 Corvette GS Convertible

So if Porsche didn't exist, my choices of a car that I "can" have, would be something in the same price range of a used 986, that is, a car worth up to $25k. I paid almost $23k for mine. I can't have a Lambo etc due to price.

1. 2006 or newer Miata with a few grand of suspension, wheel, tire, intake, exhaust, and ECU mods. Then I'd bank the other $10k.
2. I'm thinking
3. used Subbie STI
4. S2000 with a CARB legal S/C
5. E46 M3

thstone 02-11-2012 07:36 PM

My not so supercar-ish list:

1. 1929 Ford Model A w/ Rumble Seat
2. E-Type Jag V12 Convertible
3. 1973 Corvette Stingray
4. 1971 Triumph TR-6
5. 1965 Ford Mustang
