How do I tighten a 986 cirgarette adaptor ??

My cell phone and / or GPS charger keep falling out and it's driving me nuts. Any insight would be appreciated.

For about $20, Porsche has an update kit that converts the European sized lighter to the correct size for the adaptors used here. Takes about 15 min. to complete the swap, and ends the problem forever..........

Cigarette Lighter

Most european cigarette jacks are slightly bigger than (China) manufactured 12v power adapters.
So in order to make a standard 12v power adapter to work in euro cars, the adapter manufactures include a small plastic sleeve/ring that is placed over the 12v adapter tip. This ring has a few cut out slots to allow the metal contacts to still make the necessary contacts in the cars socket.
Think of the sleeve/ring as a shim: 1mm bigger than the diameter of the adapter by 1" long. If you need to see an example, go by a Radio Shack or Best Buy to view there power adapters.
Keep in mind this only pertains to cigarette jacks, NOT TO 12V DC POWER POINTS

I had the same problem. Just replace the stock lighter receptable with the US version. Its cheap and easy.

Yep. Two solutions - replace it or get an adaptor. My 2001 was loose like that but my 2002 is fine.
