windows drop 5in randomly
 

My windows will randomly drop the 5-6inches like when you unlock the convertible top. It started doing it about 3 weeks ago, and it has happened twice since then, so its pretty rare. I've had the car for a year and the windows have never dropped before, even with the top down.

My top mechanism is broken, and has been. So ive been manually opening the clam shell and putting the top down which doesnt bother me. I've never had the convertible top dash light come on either.

Today I was driving with the top up, and the windows dropped down which was pretty annoying, and thank god it wasnt raining because the window button wasn't rolling them up. I pulled over into a parking lot, turned off the car, and was able to roll the windows up again.

Is there any way to disable the 6 in window stop like when you open the top (not the .5in when you open the door, that's fine). Is there a fuse I can pull to prevent it, or anything I can do at all? It's a 99 base.

Sounds like you have an issue with the top micro switch.
The switch is located in the center top part of the windshield, where you lock the top to the closed position.

The windows are supposed to drop when you undo the latch.
