What is this part? (pics included)
When I bought my Boxster, the convertible top in what the seller called "manual mode" (motor broken, lift it up yourself).
Well, I have since replaced the motor, but it seems that some kind of arms that were removed in the process of converting it to "manual mode". http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/9590/img1372n.jpg I also found this part in the trunk, but it is not long enough to reach between the two connections so I believe there is a piece in between. (It's labeled "R" for right.) http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg651...jpg&res=medium |
That piece in the second picture is the pivot arm. There is one on each side and it connects your convertible top mechanism to the transmission. The arm is(or will be) ling enough when you get things aligned properly. BTW, the red pivot ends are an older style and are prone to cracking. Mike Focke's website has a great instruction tutorial on top R/R and alignment.

The over sized BB ball might be the end of the top cable, first generation cables broke at that point sometimes.

The part I have is about 8 inches long. The stretch between the two leads looks 3 times longer.
