Foam from Air vents

Hi, I am starting to see foam coming out of the air vents.

I can see there was some discussion about this :

Questions :
1. Is this a problem or just annoying ?
2. Is there a fix ?

Thanks
Terry

Yep, as the insulation between the vent tube and dash age, they flake off and come out. I just took a small pair of hemostats and pulled what I could see, then using a small tube attached to my vacuum sucked the rest out.

Nothing to worry about but if you ever take the dash out, it would be worth replacing or at a minimum cleaning up.

It is annoying.

I turned my ac on full blast for 5-10 min and then vacuumed it all up.

Thanks, that's a relief! I'm hoping one day it will just stop blowing out the vents. :)

When you start having air mix issues (hot, warm, cold) then you can start worrying. The air mix door is covered with this and when the foam is mostly gone you will stop having 'cold' air from the vents when the a/c is on and super hot air when at full closed position.

Yes, this is a common problem with Boxsters as they age and will eventually affect most of our cars. It is also common for the temp controller to stop working or work erratically.
