From the Getty Design site:
"Stock replacement item. Approximately 8 pounds lighter than a 7lb metal decklid. Complete factory style liner. Direct bolt on."
LOL, brilliant.

I can't wrap my head around that math. Metal decklid weighs 7 pounds. You replace it with the Getty Design one, and you're saving 8 pounds? So the replacement decklid weighs -1 pounds?
What am I missing here?

That is the reason for the higher cost. It is easy to replace stock with just lighter but to get a negative weight. Big Bucks

Yes, but a negative weight? Your car weighs 3,000 pounds. You remove something that weighs 7 pounds, so now your car weighs 2,993 pounds. You then install a replacement item of that thing you removed, and now your car weighs 2,992 pounds? Is that new trunklid just a really large helium balloon?
I mean, I can understand you remove a 7 pound trunklid and replace it with a 3 pound trunklid, effectively changing your overall weight from 3,000 to 2,996 pounds. But to install something and that thing making the car one more pound lighter...
If you go back to the quote, it says the new decklid is 8 pounds lighter than the 7 pound decklid. That would mean the new decklid is lighter than air or not affected by gravity. I know I must be missing a key piece of information here.

I know I was making a joke. One of the websites a few post backs claims -Stock steel hood: Approx. 52 lbs- so maybe they just made a typo and haven't fixed it. The site does claim it is 8lbs lighter then 7.
I can see this ending up on Leno as bad advertising.

Maybe it's the loss of the power spoiler and assorted hardware?
