Alloy wheel maintenance?

I have the 18" twist alloys (love how they look though 18's with the low profile tires don't work all that well on our crappy California roads!) and want to know best approach to clean and maintain them. I have alloy wheel cleaner and have read in the owners manual to put vaseline on them! I have also read about simply waxing them. That seems preferable to vaseline which just seems gunky and strange!

Wash with warm soapy water. Then follow with a couple coats of RejeX wax. Done. I don't use any wheel cleaners other than soap and water.

Vaseline is used for anodized wheels, such as the 911 Fuchs. Your wheels are painted and clear coated, so wax or a good polymer (RejeX) would be the logical choice.

True. For maybe the initial cleaning. Expensive. And it strips off the wax. If you go this route, follow with RejeX, and then only use soapy water. Then, RejeX a few times per drivng season.

For best results, pull the wheels, to access the barrels easier & faster.

After you appy the RejeX wax, how easy is it to clean the wheels after that. I just got some 18 inch OEM BBS 20 spoke wheels and they are the 2 piece type which has all those bolts holding it together. I'm thinking cleaning nightmare!

Go to the autozone and buy some of those tire dressing foam sponges that have the yellow backing to hold onto but use them to wipe down the wheels instead. They are very good for fitting into tight spaces and the sponge is small so its easy to grip. Spray the wheels down with a mixture of water and car wash soap. You can pick up spray bottles from Home Depot for a buck. Dry it with a microfiber towel, Costco sells a jumbo pack where they work out to a buck or two per towel. I use wheel wax on the wheels but the basic ingredients are found on most over the counter waxes

Maybe try the Armor All Wheel Protectant spray. I am hearing great things about. I won't know first-hand until March/April.
