Hard start problems, mostly after a fillup

I've been having a problem with the 2000 Boxster starting after a fillup. It takes a few cranks and I have to give it some gas, but it usually starts after the third or fourth try. It will sometimes give me a little trouble if I go into a store for a few minutes, but it always happens after a fillup.

I recently had to replace a check valve that was whistling really loud (located behind the passenger side front wheel) but that didn't fix the problem. I have a spare MAF that I'm going to try as soon as I replace the starter (that fritzed this morning), but I don't think it's going to do anything.

Any other ideas as to what would cause this problem? It's driving my wife nuts since she's the one that drives this car to work every day.

TIA!!

I have the same intermittent problem with my 2000 (tiptronic). I thought this was symptomatic of the check value you mentioned, but you've already replaced yours (i haven't).
Maybe the new valve is bad or has a loose connection? Open the fuel filler cap and push in the metal flap that covers the fuel opening with your finger - can you hear the valve "click" when you do this?

There are two valves in that area. You may have replaced the wrong one. I had the whistling sound and it went away after replacing the valve. Did you replace this one: Pelican Parts - Product Information: OEM-99660521301

Also, have the fuel pressure checked...you may have a fuel pump going out.;)

I'm pretty sure that's the one I replaced. Ours was whistling like crazy as well and it stopped once I replaced the valve.

Will any fuel tester work with the Boxster. I'm going to go get one this week and want to make sure it will work.

Thanks!
