Boxster 986 Cupholder My Way!

I modified one of the cupholders in my 2002 Boxster about 2 years ago.

I have been using my fairly heavy SS coffee mug with this mod all this time and haven't had any issues. :)

So, here is how I did it:
1) Removed cupholder
2) Located center on the bottom
3) Used a holesaw to cut a hole slightly smaller than the top hole
4) Cleaned up the edge of newly cut hole
5) Reinstalled cupholder

How does it work for soda/pop/Coke/beer cans?

I don't think it would work particularlly well, but slightly better than original configuration depending on how one sizes the newly cut hole.

I understand the reason for the modification, I always struggle with Starbucks cups. Seems the Boxster holders are limited to smaller cups, this modification is something I will have to consider.

What is the four-way pad next to the stereo controlling?

Ah, good eyes. That is the 4-way switch for my OBC hack. I'll post some details on that in an upcoming thread.
