Boxster vs Cayman
Just a show of hands....
Would you give up top down driving to have a Cayman S? I love the picture of the Cayman in the new Panarama, it looked so mean in silver and the angle was not the usual corner shot. But after the Boxster I am not sure I can live without top down driving. |

I have so much fun with the top down, I don't want to give that up. I will stick with Boxster.
|
I'd keep the Boxster as a 2nd car. Boxster and Cayman don't have to be mutually exclusive, you can own both :)
But if I can only keep 1, top down driving isn't "that" important :o just roll down the windows and stick your head out :barf: |
I live in SOCAL. I am a rag top guy!
 |
It's the Boxster for me. The Cayman may be a tick faster, but does it really matter?
|
I would take the Cayman. Top down driving is awesome, but I think I prefer the coupe. The Boxster is awesome too...damn...oh well...life is good when you trying to make that type of choice!
|
I'd swap my Box for a Cayman in a Rocky Mountain minute.
Out of the 6k or so miles I drive the Boxster in a year, two-thirds of them are with the top up anyway. |
The reason I asked is I drop the top so much. It goes from my garage to the hangar and back, so i don't worry about theft etc.
I don't think people in alabama steal wind deflectors anyway. |
if we're in the hypothetical mode, put me down for one of each. I'd take the Cayman for the track and keep the Boxster clean and neat for top down touring with the wife. If I had to choose - I'd keep the Box - gotta have open air sometimes.
re: Alabama - went to Huntsville over the weekend - son's birthday. Nice town, but plenty hot, just like SC. Good thing for a/c. |

I was in Huntsville this weekend too. We were diving at the Rock Divers quarry in Madison. I just got the urge to put a deposit on a cayman; it was $1000 for a January delivery. |
Boxster it is
Boxster rules. Rag top for me only way for this Porsche. The 986-7 was designed as a roadster the Cayman won't even have a sunroof.
|
If the Cayman had a moonroof... Cayman. I like the structural integrity and safety of a fixed top, but I at least need a hole in the ceiling. I don't know why they can't incorporate a moonroof that goes up and back like an Acura Integra's.
Anyone? |
Onad,
Now that so many cars and SUVs come loaded up, including moon-sunroofs, I always hear people say they never use them. My wife and I use the sunroof on our cars all the time. I especially like the sunroof on the boxster. It seems they could get the same rigidity with a monroof as without. |
I drove my 911 coupe yesterday for about 200 miles. It was fine yet when I got home, I grabbed a cabriolet to drive the coast.
For me it is clearly a ragtop all the way. |
