If you replace any cooling parts, get all of the hoses too!
Several of you may remember my tank needing replacement after it cracked. I replaced it and all of the hoses I could get at the time. The dealer did not have the three large hoses that go underneath, in front of the engine so I decided to change those in a few weeks when I can get them from Sunset.
Well, today the $100 of new coolant is all over the local Kroger parking lot! After yesterday's hard driving in the mountains (mucho fun! :D ), one of those three hoses I could not replace blew this afternoon when my wife turned off the car and went in the store. |
How did the coolant end up costing you $100?????

Local dealership's price and in a hurry. Is there another coolant that can be used besides the Porsche brand?

Question for you guys. I to was loosing coolant in my tank, but into the trunk nothing on the ground. I assumed it would be the same issue as everyone else. So I pulled out my carpet completely today to get to the problem. I pulled the plastic cover under all the caps off as well to see if there was a fluid coming out of a potentially faulty cap. My tank appears brand new as do my hoses and the cap did not appear to be the issue since there wasn't any fluid up top. It was all spotless.
Now what i did find is a small leak from directly under the tank where a small hose goes into a rubber gasket into the body of the car. Can anyone tell me what this hose is for, where it goes, and a possible solution? Any help will be very appreciated. |

What year is your Boxster? My 2000 has 5 hoses going through the back of the trunk. The biggest one is the oil filler and the smallest is the dipstick. The two that are clamped to the side of the coolant tank are in-out coolant system hoses. The other one that is attached to the side of the coolant tank, but not clamped, is the overflow. There are some wires that go into the bottom of the tank that are connected to the coolant level sender. There is also a bundler of wires that go into the trunk wall that is the wiring harness for the main computer and trunk relays. That's all that's in there on mine. |
