Reliable mechanic in the San Jose area?

I just got my '00 S couple of months ago. Does anyone know a mechanic shop that specializes in Porsche in the San Jose area? Also, for those who currently resides in San Jose area, do you know a good place to have the top fixed? Mine rear plastic window has a crack on it and I would like to have it replaced. Thanks!

Richard

Richard, you need to get in touch with Jeff (Toolpants). He lives in San Jose and probably knows at least one excellent mechanic if not more. Send him a private message.

PS - I will be in Gilroy at the garlic festival in two weeks. Wanna come down that day and eat garlic with me and my wife and compare boxsters?

We do most of the work ourselves at our work on cars days in San Jose.

For something serious there is Bob Grisby in Sunnyvale who puts on tech sessions for us at his shop.

I know the mechanic who replaces the Boxster tops. Someday I may get him to show us how to put in the glass window top at one of the work on cars days.

New guy brings the beer.

I wanted to have a work on cars day around the time of the Garlic Festival for Randall but some of the Boxster people have planned a river rafting trip and there is the San Jose Grand Prix the same weekend

So Tool Pants, when is the next cars day? I'm a newbie therefore I have alot of questions.

For examples, if my rear plastic window has a small hole on it, should I replace it with another plastic window (cost effective), replace the top with a rear glass one, or buy a hardtop to use in winter and rainy season?

Thanks for all your help!

You guys have been very helpful.

Richard
