ROW Tune Question
I've been trying to solve a CEL problem for 6 months. After $6K in new parts and labor, the CEL still pops on with codes 0410 and 1411. I've given up in trying to fix it directly
I'm considering reprogramming the car to a ROW tune. As I understand it, the car will stop monitoring the secondary air system and the CEL will stay off for the 410 and 1411 problems. That's my goal at this point.
Here's my question. When the smog police plug into the car, will it show the secondary air system monitor is turned off? The car passed its smog check three month ago with flying colors, but a secondary air system monitor off will be an automatic fail in the future.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

i believe so, if its like most other OBDII cars, the readiness code will not show up for the secondary system or show not ready or something like that......

What has been done so far for the $6k?
Do you hear the secondary air system pump running for a couple minutes after you start your Boxster (cold)?
Do a search on this site to find what others have found with these codes.
What condition is your gas cap seal? Inspect for cracks on the seal.

Since you aksed, here's what I've had replaced:
1. air pump
2. air change over valve
3. electric change over valve
4. vacuum lines
5. O2 sensors (all four)
6. air / oil separator
7. gas cap
8. mass air flow sensor
Plus, I had the car tuned up - the full 90K service and leak tested multiple times.

Are all parts you recently replaced OEM?
Common causes for these two trouble codes are the non-return valve or electric change over valve (you replaced this).
Do you hear the pump running after starting the motor (cold)? You should here a whine sound from the rear passenger side of the car for a ~minute after starting the motor.
You might have an electrical issue to the system/valves??

Thanks
All OEM parts. Pump runs for the requisite 90 seconds. Checked all the electrics several times. Still the lights come on with every cold start.

Just for the heck of it... After the motor warms up remove the oil fill cap. Is it hard to remove? Does the motor idle drop (almost die)?

I'll give the oil cap a try after I get back from holiday vacation. It the motor does drop in rpm and almost die, what would that mean?
