Starter motor noise

Starter moter on my 2000 Boxter occasionally makes a dry bearing noise (whirr) as it disengages the engine. Are these oil bronze bushes or actual bearings? Does anyone have a spec. on these so I can heve new ones ready to fit at removal?
Thank you,
Doug Holley

What you are hearing is the bendix not disengaging. Mine started to do it and as a shot in the dark I sprayed the starter bendix with "liquid wrench" to help the bendix become unstuck.

Has not done it agian in over a year.

Just a suggestion.

Thank you for your reply. Sounds simple enough next time I'm under the cover.
