Vibration at 2200-2400 RPM

Last month, my 1998 Boxster started to vibrate at 2200-2400rpm. It does not matter if the car is in gear or not. Temperature seems to make no difference either.

Metailic vibration is heard and felt at exactly 2200-2400 RPM, all other RPMs are smooth as glass.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this? There is no unusual smoke or smells.

Does it have an Aftermarket exhaust?

Engine mount is a good starting point - especially if you have difficulty with gearchange selection and more than 40,000 miles on the car......

+1 for the front engine mount.
