gas mileage?

As the title states whats your gas mileage? :)

What are your driving habits like?

Spinnaker 11-10-2011 05:51 PM

2000S - 17.5 to 18 mpg, about 60% freeway, 40% city. The best tankfull was 26 MPG, all freeway.
I have logged every tank of gas and the odometer readings since I bought the car in 2007. I drive with enthusiasm for the most part and have a Pb enabled foot. If I wanted a car with high MPG, I would've bought a hybrid and would have been bored to death.

MileHighBoxster 11-10-2011 08:31 PM

My 2.7, driven hard, got 25-27 mpg. My S gets around 20 driven the same.

2003S 11-11-2011 03:26 AM

Mostly city, 23mpg. The best I did was 30 on a long easy highway trip.

1999 Boxster.
90% City - Stop and Go
10% Highway

20 City/25 highway

peterbrown77 11-11-2011 04:02 AM

34 city, 38 highway.....

Ooops, that's the Corolla. About 19 with an S.

schnellman 11-11-2011 04:24 AM

Bone stock '98 driven mostly highway gets 26.7. On a long trip last summer I averaged just over 30.

DFW02S 11-11-2011 04:56 AM

24 mpg on a 250 mile trip, 95% highway at 80mph.

Bengalfan 11-11-2011 05:05 AM

Took a trip from Toledo, O. to Sodus Point, NY. in my base 2000 in less than a tank of gas - got 29.8 mpg. Slightly better on return trip. My badder didn't perform as well, but got a lot of "nice car" at the rest stops!

Just FYI, if you do a search you'd find the following related thread:

Personally I've been getting a pretty low 20.5, sometimes almost 21 mpg. The only time I get to take long stints on the highway is either if I take a long trip to somewhere else in the state or purposely take a drive just to give the car some movement and miles, and I have a hard time just cruising, heheh. I force myself to use the cruise control as much as possible when taking a long highway trip.

The majority of my driving is typically city, traffic lights and stop signs galore, with short stints on the highway, only 15-20 highway miles at the most when I have my occasional longer commute, and that is not as common as my shorter trip to work and other more local places. I could definitely stand to get even another 5mpg, though I know at least a part of that has to do with my right foot control.

Beelzy 11-11-2011 10:55 AM

20-23 mpg, and spirited driving for me would be considered an understatement.

I haul donkey in mine!

2001 Base Box 5-speed. 90 mile roundtrip daily. Old engine died with 129,666 miles....getting 25-26 mpg. New (used) engine with 35,000 miles getting 27-28 mpg. 85% freeway with some highway hilly twistys.

Idaho Red Rocket 3 11-11-2011 05:11 PM

The 1998 Base 2.5 L 5 spd manual got 24-26 around town and 30-33 on the highway.

The 2000 S 3.2 L 6 spd manual gets 20-22 around town and 26-28 on the highway.

We like to "drive" this car like the Doctor prescribed.

2001 S; Avg 23 MPG.

Deserion 11-12-2011 11:29 AM

I average 24.4mpg on my '04 2.7 5-speed.

Dave S. 11-12-2011 04:40 PM

I drive nearly 100% highway miles and have checked my mileage with several tank fulls. I seem to always get 27 mpg with my 03 S. The weird thing is that I get practically the same mileage whether I baby it and drive it like I'm going for high mileage, or if I drive it like I stole it. - So now I nearly always drive it like I stole it. ;-)

Lordblood 11-13-2011 01:11 AM

I have a 2001S, always put 91 octane in. 100% city use with 50% stop & go. Harsh conditions, and as a result I get around 16.5-17 mpg. I do wind it up when I get the chance though, 1st gear runs to the redline are a must if I find myself first at the stoplight.

Ghostrider 310 11-13-2011 01:39 AM

I never clocked it even once, as it turns out gas was the cheapest thing I ever put in the car. I did use premium and enjoyed every single mile, if the car was getting 9 mpg, I'd have still driven it.

Perfectlap 11-13-2011 07:56 AM

2000 S just, replaced the MAF, 02's not long ago, change the oil every 6-7 months but I installed a full Fabspeed exhaust including headers. I'm very easy on the brakes (1 set of pads in 80k miles). I'm getting 21-22 mpg of mostly highway miles.

I just read the newest Ferrari V8 is getting 24 mpg.

Overdrive 11-14-2011 05:59 AM

As an update, this past tank saw a drop, possibly due in part to the drop in temp around here and my using it to commute to work for most of the week, with the typical short stints on the highway and putting around the cities. ~19.4mpg
