2005 roof problem

Today after owning my 2005 boxster for 2 weeks the top would not retract. When I remove the center latch on the roof the windows go down 1/2 way and the sensor says removing top.

Then I hear a noise in the dash - like a small motor stoping the top. Nothing ever moves. I took the car to the Porsche delearship and they said that it is probably out of allignment a bit and the sensor is stopping the top so it does not break anything.

Does this sound right to anyone? Ever happened to your car?

Scott

Nope, not yet. Great...I'm glad you gave me something to look forward to.

I've come to realize that Porsche probably makes the crappiest mechanical tops period...

More often than not, if you ask a Porsche convertible owner if they have experienced problems with it, they HAVE.

Hell, I saw a 996 convertible today with the convertible top cover stuck halfway up/down. It's pathetic.

If you haven't experienced trouble with it, you will one day.

Word of advice - when it happens and it gets stuck half way, or just doesn't move at all...pound on the area where the latch goes when you close the top. There is a sensor there and if you kick its ass, it'll work most of the time...

NICE!

I spent $55k on a car and I get to hit it every once in a while to trick it into working! Oh well, at least it still looks great. J/K love the car.

Scott.
