Technical Workbook M96

Hi guys,

does anybody know where I can find any techincal publication, workshop manual, book or whatever about M96 engine?

You may wish to purchase the 101 projects book written by Wayne Dempsey of Pelican Parts...great information, not only about the M96, but the car in general.

Thanks jmatta,

that looks really useful for boxster owners, although I'm searching something that could help me in the rebuilding engine job, such as special tools, sequences of checks and other very important actions that are completely unknown to those who never managed these engines, even though they have dealt with other types of engines.

This will be added to my library as well.

You can buy an AllDataDIY or Mitchell subscription for a year and download everything into pdf's -- those subscriptions are around $30. I did that for one of my other cars.

paul...

Yeah, they're tedious downloads but it is the factory manual and it's all there.

thank you!

Great,
those pdf are also available here, along with some other Porsche manuals for those who could be interested in:

http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm

I already have downloaded all boxster manuals, but it's still something supposed to be used by Porsche well trained people who have access to all special Porsche tools required for this job. Special tool represents the major limit for who want to go through this job.

I have been told yesterday by the Porsche mechanic that if I want to go through the complete engine rebuilding I have to replace lot of parts which are no longer produced as spare because the early M96.20engine has been heavily modified along the years, such as crankshaft, crankcase, rod bearings, pistons and other expensive parts. I didn't check the SPC yet but I have no reasons not to trust him. I will just ask Jake Raby about that.
That means a cost raising for a complete engine rebuilding that probably will not justify the job. Maybe I have to go for an engine swap starting from a younger engine as a starting project instead of my old one.
Thank you for your support guys... I have to say, sadly, that here in Italy life has become really expensive and they foreseen a bill of over 10k eur parts to do it whch honestly don't worth the car value.
I'm not convinced at all...
