Ignition key duplication question
Hi all,
I am going to be moving in the near future, and I will be turning the key over to the movers. I only received 1 key when I bought the car, and want to make sure I have an extra in case one gets lost in transportation of the vehicle. I have the vehicle IPAS info which has the key learn code, immobilizer code, ignition lock code and programming code.....Not sure which of these is needed, but what would be the best way of going about getting another key? Hopefully something in a timely manner as I am moving in the next few weeks! :) Thanks, Lou |
Go to the dealer with proof of ownership.
They can order you either a valet key or a remote and key. If you order the remote, they will need to program it after you get it from parts. You need the car there for that process. Assume $270 list for remote and key, and then about $80 for programming. Or, the valet key is about $115 with of course, no programming. You cannot get these keys at the corner locksmith. Good luck on the move. |
Thanks a bunch :) .......I have a "lease special" , so only the valet key....115.00 doesn't sound bad....
