value also depends on the condition of the major items like shocks, clutch which start to show their age after 7 or 8 years. You can easily spend $4K on both if you need a new flywheel and decide to upgrade the IMS bearing (highly recommended) while the clutch is out. Condition of the rear tires is also not cheap you'll spend $600 on Michelins or Bridgestones. There are also a few notorious Porsche items like the air oil separator, coolant tank crackikng/splitting, those run about $600 to replace each.
and being that it is black, you need to check out every bodywork panel closely since that color tends to magnifiy every chip, scratch, dent and other paint flawe. Matching black paint is not easy. Also make sure the wheels are clean and free of curb rash, on this side of the ocean you'll spend about $150 per wheel to refinish. Money well spent because those wheels have actually become very expensive to locate if they are factory originals, about $2K for the set. I had to replace one last year and the cheapest I could find was $500 for a used one needing paintwork.
Best advice is to pay a Porsche dealer or well known independent mechanic to do the pre purchase inspection. A couple of years ago I had one done before I began some major maintenace and they identified $12K worth of work at their rates. Which was about half using an independent Porsche specialist but with upgrades and some other unanticipated repairs I wasn't far off that mark by the time I hit 80K miles. that's why records are important, you should know what expensive items has already been replaced. If you intend to keep the car for more than a few years you'll need to factor that into the price of ownership. I'll take a Porsche will lower mileage (4K-6K miles per) year or a one with higher mileage (10K+ per year) but with extensive work records.
