I totally agree!

Make a car idiot-proof and they'll invent a better idiot.

It's alarming how distracted drivers have become. But it's not new. 20 yrs ago I was on a golf trip to Dallas with 2 buddies and a newbie to the group. When newbie took over the driving chores, he grabbed a newspaper and started reading it perched on the steering wheel. I said if you're so bored driving you could pull over and let me take the wheel. He and I never played another round of golf together.

My Cayman has 2 of the 10 - no dipstick and rain sensing wipers.

Good list!

My car has daytime running lights (fogs) which I hacked to work myself after having too many people "not see me" and pull right out in front of me. And yes, they have helped reduce that quite a bit.

"The driver's side sun visor has no mirror. Instead it has a strap for emergency information, like a real car should. "

:p

Never thought about that. I won't look in that mirror the same way again. :D

p.s.
Does he have a REAL mechanic to wrench on that thing? LOL. Kind of ironic coming from an Audi (old school) owner.
My indy won't touch those cars. And that guy will fix anything.

Agree with one exception:
I love my rain sensing intermediate wipers. Much better than fiddling with the knob for the wiper delay all the time....

If you put rain-x on your windshield you don't even need wipers. A solution that consists of zero mechanical & electrical part, ha!

My Boxster hasn't seen rain in years!

My first experience with the rain sensing wipers went down like this: I was driving to work in a light rain, so the wipers were on working at an intermittent speed. The pickup next to me splashed through a huge puddle and my windshield was instantly covered with water. The wipers immediately kicked into high gear and swept the water away. Then went back to their "normal" speed. No way I could have bumped the stalk to high speed that fast. I was impressed, but I'm not sure they've become a must have option on my next ride.

i liked the wipers on my old 325. when you come to a stop, the wipers switch to intermittant. when you go again, they go back to the original setting.
