Season is winding down...5 to 10 inches of snow today.

The eastern foothills in Colorado are getting hit with a winter storm and in SW Colorado Wolf Creek ski resort opened today with natural snow. It's about time to put the Boxster away for the season again...;-(
The only good thing about it is that every spring its like getting a brand new car again.

Dave: I saw that on the news and moved from Colorado Springs the "last" time in 2009 so I know the weather there. I envy the abrupt and sometimes early weather changes in CO but do recall it shortens the driving season once all of the gravel get dumped on the roads.

I am enjoying the east coast longer summer season to get is some more diring time. Obviously you will have some great 50 degree sunny winter days that if you put the heater on, you can still put the top down wearing a fleece!!! Bob

PS: It is 93 degrees right now here in Baghdad, Iraq... :-)

Not to rub it in, but the season just started here in Miami. The temperature and humidity have finally gone down enough that I can finally go topless. Sometimes I think I live in the southern hemisphere.

The season will be snowing, I mean slowing. Yes, first snow today. I'll have 10-12" in Winter Park and a dusting in Denver. 28 degrees high today Winter Park, 36 currently in Denver. The Rockies are great.

Less Box, more Jeep.

Great selection of cars you had!
My first car was a 1972 60hp Opel Manta

Dave - Sad to hear you have to put her away. It has been amazing here in Charlotte NC for weeks now. 70 today and light breeze. At least our friends in the deep south will get their season now. I'm headed to the Adirondacks of NY to see my Mom next week, hoping I won't see cold and snow, looking to get some hiking in. Maybe Porsche will make a snowmobile!

And summer is just starting here in Australia after a long dry Winter.
Although I'm not looking forward to Dec / Jan / Feb as the heat and humidity is not very pleasant - something like the Southern States of USA I imagine....

Ths fall in Iowa has been the bomb. 75-85 sunny days, cool cool nights.

I may be a skeptic but I expect a terrible winter to make up for all this nice weather.

Brucelee 10-09-2011 03:25 AM

PS-the bonus is the motorcycle riding has been awesome.

Thanks, its been a journey. Favorite still has to be the GTV6, unfortunately, I crashed it.

Manta was only 60hp? I could get mine up to 100mph. Lillte brother lost his license speeding in it.

Anyways, after a very nice summer in Utah we left the Box in the Garage and took the Cayenne and boat to Lake Powell before putting the boat away for the winter.... sad but hey, that's how it is every year!

On the way down South (Bullfrog) it was snowing!!

Glad to be home, it was a great but cool weekend, check out this pic!!

I hope I have some more nice days this year with my Baby driving open top, like my wife says, open top driving makes her (and me) happy!!

Later,
Andy

So far, we've had a beautiful autumn up here in New England . Warm days (75- 80 degrees) and cool nights .

Guys,
I will be holidaying next week and travelling around the USA. What is the weather forecast for Denver up through the Black Hills to Rapid City and then across to Chicago & Ontario from Sunday 16th Oct?
Can we expect snow?

DenverSteve 10-13-2011 07:35 PM

You'll have to do some weather. something planning closer to the trip. We can have snow here anytime now that the first snow has flown. From here north to the Black Hills you may not have any snow. In the mountains you will likely have snow. The hardest thing to forecast at this altitude is the weather. If it goes slightly north, no snow until the eastern plains. If it dips south......... The only thing you can depend on here is change. Have a great trip.

Dave - Sorry to hear about early winter in Colorado. On the other hand, here in Houston it's finally "cooled" to below 90 F, and it's finally the time where Texans can put down the tops.

Dave S. 10-15-2011 03:20 PM

Well we only got 4 inches of snow last weekend and now it's like an Indian summer kind of thing. I enjoyed a spirited drive in the Boxster today, but one of these days soon it will be time to put it away for the winter. Then I can start using the new-to-me toy I just bought.
I think I'll have some fun up keeping the driveway and private road to my house clear this winter. The wife's not too happy about this old beast sitting in the driveway, but I had to buy it anyway.

Of course the Boxster picture up on Mt. Evans, just so we don't stray too far off topic.

Getting ready for winter here in Wyoming also. I just put the studded tires on for the days I can take the fun car out this winter.
