WOT shifting...
Does anyone know if WOT shifting (upshifting while staying on the gas to keep your revs higher) is horribly bad in our cars. I tried it a couple times while racing and it seemed to help out but I don't wanna kill my car either.

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

I can't see how that'd do you any good. You have a pretty heavy flywheel in these cars--you should have plenty of time to shift in a normal fashion before revs drop too low...?
If you were worried about turbo-lag i could understand it. All i see you doing is adding a bunch more stress on your gears, flywheel and clutch disk.

It is not a good idea at all to not lift off the gas while shifting. It puts alot more stress on the driveline particularly the clutch.

Hmm, sounds like I won't use that as a race shifting tactic then.

Why would you want to do this? You might as well be power shifting (shifting without the clutch).........

sounds like you'd love to nail heel and toe shifting if youre worried about the rev's dropping.
I suggest a great book by Jim Russell called "Principles of Race car driving". It's two inches thick with excellent illustrations. The bible of HP driving.

But, heel and toe applies to downshifting, not upshifting which is why i was confused by this action.
In any case, yeah, not doing it would probably be a better idea.

? I guess I don't understand the question.
Do you mean shifting at the redline?

Probably loosing you time due to driveline lash and is certainly harder on the equipment.
