'03 Boxster S pushed rear trunk release thru

How do I take out the door sill to get to the trunk and front cargo hatch release mechanism? Do the two black plastic covers conceal screws?

My manual shows two screws, under covers, going through the side of the panel.

Instructions state: Remove plastic plugs and undo the hex socket bolts by 4-5 threads. Lift it up out of the bottom support with a plastic spatula and press out. Check fastening clips, replace if necessary.

Many thanks Peter

It sure is easy working on my car with some insight! Many thanks to you Peter. I am now motivated to make some minor mods to my stock 2003 S

All ideas considered

I had to remove the seat or actually unbolt it and raise it up to get the rear bolt out. They use 5mm allen heads as I recall. And you only need to loosen them a few turns and it will slide straight up.

I was very lucky to have an Allen wrench on hand that fit between the drivers seat controls and the screws, so removing the seat was not required. You are right about loosening the screws. I took them both all the way out by mistake and spent 5 minutes retrieving one from a hole in the body.
