I carry a can of CS gas + pepper spray combo.
My .45 auto or .357 magnum is in my shoulder holster.
9mm + .38 spec are absolutely MINIMUM. The U.S. military, as I understand it, is moving away from the 9mm. In Vietnam I carried a Colt .45 model 1911 as a sidearm . You should shoot only to prevent someone from serious harm, then you shoot to kill.

I Use it for mt ipod. Here in DC Metro Area they frown on the handgun. Go figure
