What might this be?

Hey, everyone. Not too long ago I spotted this just sort of hanging out behind my right radiator grille. I only pulled it out past the grille like this for the picture and put it back where it was, which is really just sort of laying freely in the duct. I definitely don't remember ever seeing this just hanging around in the duct before...

Can anyone tell me what it is and if it has a proper home in that area?

It's a temperature sensor… Porsche did not do a good mount design for it, in my opinion.

Ambient temperature probe. Just a guess and I'm not sure where it normally resides.

Thanks, guys. Jager, any idea where this mount you speak of is? I'm wondering if it broke off or something...

It slides into this hole on the grill (see photo)... Many times it gets pushed out.

jager's right. and i'll just add thet it just sits there. no anchor, "click" or snapping into place.

Look at your picture in the grill row above (about 2 inches) there is a little bracket for it, just push it back in from the back side. It won't snap in but there is a little rubber ring around the sensor that will hold it in place.

Thanks Jager, tony, and Whip. I found that ring you showed there and placed it back in. I'd glue it but them if I ever had to take off the bumper that'd be a problem...guess I'll just keep an eye on it.

Its a lance! There is a button to extend it I think in case of a sudden joust.
