Headligths won't adjust down..

Hi,

My headlights were way too high on low beam and I decided to adjust them down...
I got the very long allen wrench and tried to adjust them, and the beam won't move, it just clicks and thet's it.. nothing happens.

I also took the headlight out and tried to adjust it, when I turn the hex key it again just clicks and no movement in the lens.

The lens is not in the lowest angle, it actually points up.. so I know I'm not at the end of adjustment range

Does anyone know were should I start looking for the problem?

Thanks
Sasha

more than likely the gears inside the lights are shot... they are made of plastic and when someone keeps turning them they either wear out or just break when they get to the end and they are still being turned. might have been due to the previous owner..

I've had some trouble with headlight adjustment too. In my case the right side was low and right. I think the owner's manual is wrong about the direction the screw should turn. Anyway I pulled the headlight out and turned the bottom screw backward from the direction the manual said and I could see the Litronic lamp holder moving a little. Finally it made a little "pop" noise and jumped a long way in the correct direction.

Later I tried adjusting the left/right direction and discovered the top screw also tended to move the light up and down with very little left/right change. My suggestion is that you disregard the manual and move both screws significantly while watching the bulb unit. In my case the gears were not stripped and if your ARE stripped I guess you're SOL. There's some kind of interaction between the up/down and left/right adjusting units and you might get lucky if you try them both. Don't be afraid to adjust backward from what you think the manual is saying - try everything.

Thanks,

I'll try that tonight

Did you top up the headlight fluid?

I'd park the car against a wall and put tape on the wall to make sure the headlight is moving the right direction. Sometimes it's difficult to tell just by staring at the floor.

Headlight fluid?
What is that?

Sasha

PS: I don't have litronics.. just regular halogens

You can interchange headlight fluid and blinker fluid. Good deal here: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6

They're also having a smokin' sale on cross-drilled brake lines.
