Porsche returning to Le Mans with factory LMP1 team in 2014

This is incredible news, I am so excited.

I watched the race this year and I really don't understand why Porsche would come back. Amazing crash by McNish (again -- backwards into Suzuka) btw.
People would much rather see prototypes race in sprint vs endurance events.

Looks like porsche don't want audi to surpass their overall victories record.

I totally disagree with your premise that people would rather watch sprint events. 250,000 fans showed up to watch 24 hours of racing at Le Mans in person and another 250,000 fans showed up at the Nordschliefe two weeks later in the rain to watch the Nurburgring 24 in person although N24 was a GT race.

But Petite Le Man broke all records last year in the US and that is a ten hour race with LMP classes.
