Replaced my top!

Well, it took a number of hours and some cursing but I got it done. I think the gray top looks GREAT. I have some wrinkles in the top. I figure once it stretches a bit I will come back and restretch the front edge of the top.

Gray is a nice color for the silver Boxster. By the way, nice wheels.

Nice job jakekit

I like the color combination.

Was this your first time doing such an installation? That's a pretty gutsy move in my opinion!

Those are my favorite wheels… Where did you get those wheels?

Great job on the top, I have the same small wrinkles at the front corners (I did the replacement myself also). I left the wrinkles alone because you would have to glue/tack them to the metal plates underneath like the factory did to keep the material smooth/flat. My thoughts were I might have to replace the top again in a couple years but that was over four years ago and the top still looks great and I have had no issues with it.

Those wheel are awesome!

I really love the color of your top. I will replace mine next spring and might go dark grey as well instead of black with my grey 2000 boxster S .

My first time doing anything like this. I have done LOTS of DIY car repair in the past on my B5 Audi S4 and E36 BMW M3. It took about 9 hours of actual work time, I only had an assistant for about 2 of those hours. If I were to do it again I would have ordered replacement window guides for the top, its about 20-40 bucks in parts, would have made life MUCH easier. I would say with those parts and my experience I could do it again in 5 hours.

The wheels are the Porsche Sport Classic IIs. They were on the car when I bought it. It's an option code on the car so they came straight from the factory. The center caps have seen better days. I think I may replace them with the black/silver crest caps one of these days.

Very kind of you for sharring these pictures and your experience. This is on my to do list since a few weeks now but just wasn't too reassured by the complexity of the project. Thanks again, very helpful!

Your car looks awsome mate, nice one. Just like new.
