Rear Window Fix vs. Replacement

I have a small crack in the plastic rear window by the stitching. I was thinking of replacing the window itself and having a new one stitched in...

In doing some research, it looks like I can get an new acoustic A5 top with a glass window and defroster for around $550 (plus install)...

I guess the question is, why WOULDN'T I just replace the whole top and get a glass window for a few hundred dollars more??

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Rick

The only downside I've heard of the glass tops for the pre 03s is the fact they can limit engine access.

$$$. If you have a replacement done you can get insurance to pay for it. I went
that route.

In SoCal you can have a replacement window installed in your OEM top for $385 and an aftermarket top with glass window installed for about $1200. It is easier to access you air filter and MAF with the original top and the original always seems to fit perfectly. The glass window looks better. Pick your poison.

I'm facing the same problem, plastic rear window is detaching from the fabric top.

$385 for new rear plastic window with installation sounds reasonable, anyone know of someone in St. Louis that offers this service at that price?
