Help with error code

Hi guys, hope someone can help. My engine warning light came on a while back so I invested in a 'cheap' OBDII reader (think it's a U480). I plugged it in and the reading says:

N/A
01/01

Does that mean it doesn't work on my car or does it mean that it's some sort of MAF error? The handbook isn't very clear.

Any help much appreciated

PS: I reset the code but it came back after about 100 miles or so...

Pete

I think the 01/01 is saying the unit is attempting to display code 1 of 1. If 2 codes were stored it would be 01/02. I don't know why it's not displaying the code. My generic scanner works on my Boxster.

Check the instruction manual. If I recall correctly, an "N/A" code means "The monitor is not supported on that vehicle" or something similar.

Is your car a 2001 or newer? I think those are the applicable years for EU cars for this scanner.

Thanks for the thoughts guys... I don't think it's just telling me there's one of one codes, that seems to come before that. I think it might be the not applicable, as in it won't read my car although it is a 2001 so it should work!!! Have got in touch with the supplier to see what he suggests. Will keep you posted.

N/A.....means it probably Not Able to read codes

Take it back and spend a little more for a better one..
it will pay for itself in no time..
ie....most shops (Porsche related)
will charge 1/2 hour to check code
that adds up very quickly
besides the reader can b used on other
vechiles 96 and up
if u buy the right one

My 2 cents
Chris
