A contrary view

is that the Pcodes tell why the CEL came on and until you know the Pcodes you are only guessing. Get them read. Your original idle problem could have caused the CEL as much as any additive related cause.

And you don't want to run the fuel tank down to anywhere near empty as that exposes the fuel pump to overheating, just down to 1/4 tank and refilling it will dilute the additive you dumped in before.
