Wheels ... any issues?

Folks, I was wondering what sort of issues would I have with the following set up:

From his ad.

Original Porsche Carrera 996 or Boxster BBS style rims.

These wheels were an upgrade from factory, they are called the Sport Classic 2 wheel.

Tires are Conti Sport Contact N1 265/35/ZR18 & 255/40ZR18 .

Rim size and offset are 10 x 18 ET 65 & 7.5 x 18 ET 50.

Part numbers are 993 362 134 55 & 993 362 140 50.

Rims have some curb rash but none are bent, need to sell asap. (Ad is 4 + weeks old, from a body shop).
$1,200 CDN, local pick up.



I called him and he said there is 85% tread left and the rims have a slight bit of corrosion on them, like curb rash. I won't be able to see them for a few days as he is out of town.

How will it fit and what performance issues would there be. I don't hit the track.

255 front doesn't sound right for 7.5" wide wheel. 225/235 is more appropriate.

Front tires too wide, but rim will fit just fine...rears are completely wrong offset and will require a spacer to get into the ET45-47 range.

My existing 17" wheels are 50 mm front and 52 mm rear offsets for the 2002 S

According to a few publications they suggested a combination of:

7.5 x 18 (ET50) 225/40 ZR 19 & 9 x18 (ET52) 265/35 ZR 18

or

9 x 19 (ET 52) 225/40 ZR 18 & 10 x 18 (ET 65) 265/35 ZR 18

The ones for sale are 7.5 x 18 (ET 50) and the rears 10 x 18 (ET 65) which would place them at either end of the recommendations.

Factory manual suggests 7.5 x 18 (50 mm) and 9 x 18 (52 mm).

The car is a stock 2002 S with 17" twists ...

Front wheel is a OEM Boxster wheel, rear wheel is a 911 wheel you will need a 1" spacer to use on a Boxster & 265/3518 is the best size for the rear. 255/40/18 is too tall to be used on a Boxster, if it is actually 255/35/18 it may fit on the front but the steering will not be as sharp as 225/40 or 235/40.

bypro is right. i have this setup on my car. i run the 265/35 in back w/ ET65 offset. i use a 21mm spacer with no issues whatsoever. FYI, any hubcentric porsche spacers will do. i got mine off ebay for like $15. you will also need longer bolts. i forget the length, but i'll measure mine today & let you know.

It would seem odd that a 18 x 7.5 would be paired up 18 x 10, but it's possible. In any case, neither size is a desirable offset for a 986 application; especially the rears. You would definitely need spacers in order to correct the offset .
