Rear spoiler won't go up??

Hit 80mph and a light came on stating spoiler error and then a red ! was on the dash.

Any idea what this could be on an 05 S?

Thanks.

Don't know what I did but it is now working. I held the button and the spoiler goes up and down...

Well done! That's what they would do at the dealer.
And then whack you for diagnostic and labor charge.

Using the button doesn't solve the problem, it's just a workaround.

You need to get this working automatically because the rear end will get squirrelly at speed w/o the spoiler.

It may be a wheel speed sensor, a wiring issue, a motor issue or retractor microswitch, or even the DME.

If the calibration light (spoiler light on dash) comes on at startup, but goes out once you hit 4MPH, you can pretty much rule out the speed sensor and DME, indicating a wiring or microswitch issue.

But don't rely on manual operation, it's inherently unsafe. Don't find this out the hard way.

Cheers!

typically, if the spoiler will funciton with the switch AND the dash light stays on (or comes on intermittently while driving), the issue is the instrument cluster.

if the red light stays on, the signal sent by the cluster to actualte the spoiler is not being received.

At what speed should the spoiler go up? I'll take it for a spin today and see what happens and report back....

If you used the viagra, it should be good to go at any speed.

The manual says around 70 +, I think.
